FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Two crew members on a Holland America cruise ship died throughout an “incident” within the ship’s engineering house, the cruise line mentioned.
The unidentified crew members died Friday whereas the Florida-based Nieuw Amsterdam was at Half Moon Cay within the Bahamas, Holland America mentioned in a press release.
Authorities have been notified and the reason for the accident is being investigated, the cruise line mentioned. Crew members have been being provided counseling.
“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our ideas and prayers are with our staff members’ households at this tough time,” the assertion mentioned. “The protection, safety and welfare of all visitors and crew are the corporate’s absolute precedence.”
The cruise line didn’t provide any additional particulars in regards to the crew members, nor which company was dealing with the investigation. The ship set sail out of Fort Lauderdale on March 16 for a seven-night journey.
