I considered one more reason I don’t actually just like the metric system: Base 10 is
not a very good base. You need your base to both be an influence of two so as to
hold dividing by two (like a gallon has 128 fluid ounces) or have a bunch of
helpful components (like a foot has 12 inches, so you may simply get ⅓ or ¼; and a
minute has 60 seconds). Base 10’s components aren’t nice; you not often need to
divide something by 5.
Some alien race has eight fingers, and after they go to right here they perceive
why we use base 10, however it should be hanging to them how dangerous of a base it’s.
Like you might have 100 grams and you’ll divide it by 2 twice and after that you could
solely divide it by 5. Who must divide by 5? Particularly in cooking.
It’d be like if we discovered an alien species that used base 14 for the whole lot. One
unit, then 14, then 196?! In case you have 196 grams, you may divide it by 2 twice
after which you may solely divide it by 7? Dangerous base! Use 12 or 8 or one thing.
Metric’s complete basis is a foul base.
