RCMP officer rescues family of 4 from St. Lawrence River

An RCMP officer is being praised for rescuing a household from Ontario after their car plunged into the frigid St. Lawrence River.

A spokesperson with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stated the incident occurred round 9:30 p.m. on March 10 on County Highway-2 in South Glengarry Township, Ont., simply east of Ottawa.

The driving force, a mom together with her three kids aged 20, 11, and 5, misplaced management, inflicting the car to plunge into the St. Lawrence River.

The household’s automobile was partially submerged, with all 4 trapped inside.

“They have been unable to open the doorways however have been in a position to open a window. None have been in a position to swim,” stated OPP spokesperson Invoice Dickson.

The 20-year-old daughter was in a position to telephone 911. First responders have been notified, however an area RCMP officer was within the space and “raced to help.”
