The United Nations Safety Council is ready to vote on a United States-sponsored decision declaring that “an instantaneous and sustained ceasefire” in Gaza is “crucial” to guard civilians and allow humanitarian assist to be delivered to greater than two million hungry Palestinians.
US ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield mentioned she was optimistic that the 15-member council would approve the brand new, more durable draft decision on Friday.
